Project Longevity, H.Y.P.E, and MUAV spoke at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church's Building C

Brent Peterkin, of Project Longevity, and Warren Hardy, founder of H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Evolve) along with Deb Davis and Marvella Williams (Beloved Mother of Karlonzo A. Taylor) of Mothers United Against Violence shared insights on the vital work of gun violence prevention, intervention, and support for families who have been impacted by gun violence.

This was an impassioned event where the speakers urged community members to join them in taking a stand against gun violence while keeping an open heart and extending a hand to those who are seeking help in getting out of the street life. The event also touched on a recent tragedy in Hartford that involved two shooting victims. Karlonzo Taylor was one of those victims and unfortunately he was not able to survive his injuries. Karlonzo was only 17 year sold when his life was cut short. His passing once again forces all Hartford residents to ask themselves to make a commitment towards speaking with one voice in solidarity against senseless gun violence that has wounded families and spread trauma throughout the community.
