In the United States, the legacy of racism is interwoven with the heritage of the criminal justice system. Conversations about structural racism and subjects like implicit bias can be unsettling yet thought-provoking. The goal of these community conversations is to break down barriers between communities of color and the frontline of the criminal justice system, the police officers who took an oath to serve their community. Stacy screened a film on Reconstruction which sought to engage viewers in a discussion regarding how residents and police officers can form a bond that challenges the legacy of racism and the criminal justice system. The event was announced and covered by the New Haven Register.
