Congressional gun violence prevention champion Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro led efforts to secure $25 million for gun violence prevention research. The funding will support the research efforts of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to focus on gun violence as a public health issue. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro convened Connecticut based gun violence prevention and intervention researchers, advocates, and social impact leaders to share recommendations regarding the research focus of CDC and NIH.
